About CMR Technologies
Modern tools for working land.
We build and install technology for working farms and ranches, and we make it dependable enough to trust.

Our story
CMR Technologies grew out of The Connected M Ranch, a working cattle and horse ranch in Delta County, Texas. Our founder, Stephen Miksits, spent his career in technology and his free time working cattle, and he kept running into the same problems on the ranch: scarce resources, too little visibility, and chores that a little automation could handle.
So he started building the tools he wanted, beginning with a smart home that reaches out into the barns, where lights, fans, and plugs respond to the ranch’s own weather stations. That work is growing into two platforms now in development, Connected Rancher for livestock management and FertigAIte for precision conservation, and into a consulting practice that brings the same approach to other operations.

Meet the founder
A technologist with dirt on his boots.
Stephen Miksits is a technologist, U.S. Army veteran, and owner-operator of The Connected M Ranch, with nearly a decade of cloud, infrastructure, and security engineering behind him.
His path started in the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, first as an infantryman and fire team leader, then as a supply sergeant accountable for more than $6 million in equipment. After the Army he moved into cloud administration and DevOps on AWS, then spent five years at a national insurance brokerage, rising from analyst to engineer to operations leader. Today he is a principal engineer at a Fortune 500 company, and he brings that same discipline home to the ranch.
He runs The Connected M Ranch with the same mindset: measure it, automate it, and build it to last. His own smart home reaches into the barns, where lights, fans, and plugs respond to readings from on-site weather stations. CMR Technologies brings that approach to other farms and ranches, and it is developing two platforms: Connected Rancher for livestock management and FertigAIte for precision conservation.
Away from the keyboard, you’ll find him tinkering with new tech, taking on projects around the ranch, and making the case that work-life balance is part of doing good work: rested people make fewer mistakes.
What we believe
Three principles behind everything we build.
They’re the same whether we’re laying irrigation line or hardening a cloud tenant.
Stewardship first
Every drop of water and every input dollar should earn its keep — for the land and the balance sheet.
Secure by design
Connected systems are only useful if they can be trusted. Security is part of the build, not an add-on.
Proven on real ground
Everything we build gets proven on our own ranch before we ask anyone else to rely on it.

Let’s put your land — and your data — to work.
Whether you want your barns to run themselves or you’re curious about Connected Rancher and FertigAIte, a 30-minute conversation is the best place to start.
